PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT JOURNEY

The DIAMAS Tumbler is more than just a drinking vessel, it's a journey that yields inspiration from a past civilization. Entwining fragments of geometry, culture, and architectural design. Infused with modern materials and science.

The journey began over three years ago when three friends were tasting whiskey out of old-fashioned tumblers, testing out different whiskey stones and they were shocked at the lack of cooling performance and didn't stay cold for long enough, it brought to light on the fact there was a need for innovation.

That evening, the vision for the DIAMAS Tumbler was ignited. A vision to Redefine the Liquor Drinking Experience.

Starting with sketching the design, they implemented geometry and scientific law to ensure execution on primarily the cooling and aeration performance. The team traveled the globe to discuss the design with the best glass-making experts and manufacturers worldwide. However, they were hit with feedback that it wouldn't be possible to produce in a cost-efficient, precision mass production, due to the internal 5 convex design structure complexity.

But through relentless pursuit, 3D printing, prototypes, and several sample test failures across multiple manufacturers, along with countless hours of glass-making research, the team finally cracked the code and proved the majority of experts wrong. Discovering a manufacturer who was truly passionate about glass innovation and original design.

The team worked with them on solving the 5 convex design hurdles, through hours of CAD drawing revisions, multiple molds, and sample test runs across a two-part handcrafted glass-making technique. Finally managing to achieve a cost-effective mass production formula that was possible to run at scale to deliver to the masses.

The core of the design utilizes the Dodecahedron, a shape of prestige and historical mystery. The shape is part of a platonic group representing twenty verticles, thirty edges, and three faces meeting at each vertex. Its spectacle is dual to the regular icosahedron.

The Dodecahedron is said to associate with the universe and the connection between all things. Making the DIAMAS Tumbler symbolic in connecting people together around the table.
